Hello, this is me and I am told I have a portfolio career. I am an artist who works mainly with printed and stitched textiles. I exhibit and teach both nationally and internationally, and also at my studio at home, the Granary Studio I judge at quilt festivals internationally and am currently in the process of writing a series of three books.
My work is concerned with people’s relationship with each other and also with their environment. I draw, my sketchbooks are crucial to my practice, and inform all my textiles work
these links will take you to the group websites for further information
When the books are printed I hope to have my shop, www.susanchapman.bigcartel.com completed to enable people to buy not only the books but also pieces of my textile art.
Last but not least, there is a button for the Granary Studio which is a link to my other website which details the classes that I run from my studio at home in the pretty village of Owslebury. I specialise in small classes with experienced tutors.
There is a complete timetable available, from year long classes to one day workshops ..I teach printmaking, screen printing and some stitch.. I also have a talented group of visiting tutors, Amanda Hislop teaches her sensitive landscapes, Clare Bullock teaches the feltmaking, Caroline Bell teaches the eco-printing and dyeing,Debbie Lyddon teaches her exploration of place, and Melanie Rose teaches the drawing, painting and life drawing. Amanda Clayton teaches her exquisite hand stitch on fabulous sheer fabrics , Sue Dove teaches explosions of colour through collage and hand stitch, and Alysn Midgelow Marsden works with metals, metal fabrics and stitch. Jenny O’Leary teaches her contemporary Batik techniques, and for the first time Stewart Kelly will be teaching a Masterclass, Wendy Dolan will teach machine embroidery based on Gustav Klimt, Alice Fox will teach her natural techniques, and Susie Chaikin teaches her contemporary mosaic techniques. That makes 14 of us bringing a broad range of creative classes to the Granary Studio… Please visit www.granarystudio.com for more information on these fabulous workshops
