hopefully normality is returning

well, I have had my two jabs with a horrendous reaction to the first which laid me low for weeks… I am still not 100 percent, but beginning to feel more human. I have spent most of the last fifteen months coping with cancellations, re bookings, and more cancellations… my solo exhibition in Groningen delayed from June2020 has just been staged as a virtual exhibition at http://www.quiltfestival.nl and my studio has just re-opened to classes. My own teaching will re-start in September and I am now getting ready for an exhibition with Studio21, and for the Festival of Quilts which currently is still planned to happen during the last weekend in July

I have run several challenges for my students during lockdown which I think they have enjoyed, and the final one is hopeully picking up speed now I am feeling more up to it

I have several new ideas for the coming year, so, watch this space

Meanwhile do pop by the stand at the Festival of Quilts … QIA28 and say hello

Light at the End of the Tunnel?

Here we all still are, lockdown for the third time… I have now had the first Vaccination so feel as though progress is being made … I have cancelled all classes here at the Granary Studio until Easter when I will assess where I go from there. The up side is that I have had time to think about myself and my work .. I have spent a significant amount of time getting me and all my things sorted .. it may not look like it yet but I am three quarters sorted everywhere, so, hopefully by Easter it will be finished, before the garden properly wakes up. I have done a large amount of sketchbook work and am fired up to start on a whole new body of work. As I write this, the ICHF show is planned to run in June and my solo exhibition in Groningen is also scheduled for June and Festival of Quilts is planned for August.. we will see what materialises, but it does feel as though things are moving forward

Almost Ready to go

The ICHF show Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch will be open on Thursday until Sunday, 17-20 March, to find out more please visit

http://www.fashionembroidery.co.uk

It is a fabulous show in Hall 12 of the NEC. All the usual suspects will be there including ArtVanGo and Oliver Twists… My favourite clothes stand with the gorgeous UWE always able to sell me something new to wear.. lots of exhibitions, lots of shops so bring your money and cards!

All the stitching is finished, just got the leaflets and statements to update and print, battens to cut and drill …. clothes are washed , packing started

Here are a few images to whet your appetite… can’t show the whole pieces because they wouldn’t be new to the exhibitions I have this year.

The first pic is of a group of five titled ‘Not Invisible’, it is said that when we get grey haired and over 60 we become invisible ….. not in my world we don’t! These will be shown as part of the Room6  exhibition titled ‘6 Shades of Grey’ so please do pop in and say hello to whoever is stewarding that day

The second pic shows a group of five again this time titled ‘Men at Work’ and the third pic is titled ‘The Building of New York’ and is drawn from the iconic photograph of workmen sitting on a  girder high up above the New York skyline. this one is a monster, over 10feet wide. These pieces will be shown in the People and Places gallery, where Kim Thittichai and I will be showing our new work and demonstrating too. Please pop by and say hello

hope to see you there

Happy Christmas!

xmas card 15 resized

Happy Christmas everyone… this is my Christmas card this year, with the words:

Communion is a vision of a world where all nations and cultures will stand together, no hatred simply because of colour, religion or culture, but an understanding and tolerance of their differences.

and here is a pic from my weekend on the Art Van Go Artist in Action in Harrogate this year, courtesy of Christine Seager from  SAQA

let’s hope the New Year 2016 is Happy and Healthy for you all, I will be busy in the studio for my upcoming exhibitions the minute the turkey is finished!
